I’m thinking of having my-to-be Inbred stripped off and covered in clear lacquer. Has anybody done their bike raw? Alu are popular and pretty, how about steel?
    Thanks!

didn’t on-one do that with the original summer season frames, and even they said that it’ll get rust spots as the lacquer can be porus

Whats the point if your going to lacquer over it? Leave it raw.

So it doesn’t rust immediately 😀
My 456SS looks fine raw, but I won’t be bathing the Tinbred in acid.

I woon’t bother, Hairy. It will inevitably get rust spots. I did this with a bike, and the back end not looks like a rusty gate. For the hassle of getting it propperly lacquered (IE not rattle-can crap which will just flake off), you might as well spend a couple of quid more and get it powdercoated a nice colour.

There’s a good reason steel frames are painted…

I’ve seen some pics of a Curtis Supercross raw, laquered, decalled. It looked very good indeed.

Elf, that’s true. However, how often do you apply “want” instead of “need” when it comes to bikes, huh?

Erm hardly ever tbh. Too poor! 😥

Thar’s a crying shame. Lemme rephrase is for you:
How often does an average STW dweller use “want” instead of “need”, huh?

    All the time! 😀

Mind you, I feel I must clarify:

I consider I need several bikes, forks, cranks, etc. Different to ‘want’. 😉
