  • Shock and fork stantion colours – just because or chosen for looks?

Apart from silver steel stantions/shock shafts, having not fully looked into this it seems to me as if most forks are either a gold (RS,Fox) colour, else a black (DT,some ‘zocchi) or something else) and most shocks a grey colour (RS,Fox), else black (DT,some ‘zocchi)?

Am I missing some more examples to make my half-hearted observations completely unfounded, or are there technical or just aesthetic reasons for forks often being gold, but the shocks being grey? or both black

It would also seem that if gold is good, then to make Kashima or Rockshox’s more pricey coating to appear better than ‘more gold’ is the answer? Again more ill thought out thought

I guess it’s to make the forks look good.

Hmm, but why make the shock a grey colour instead of the same gold as the fork?
