Do they all work with all shimano calipers? Will the newer servo wave ones work with older calipers?

If you check the LX and SLX caliper part numbers you’ll find they are identical except the colour code.

I was going to buy SLX levers and use the LX calipers but opted for LX levers and a 185mm front disc.

They pretty much work and connect the same.

I wouldn’t use the newer XT/XTR levers though as they push less fluid but then again I haven’t tried it yet.

The older levers (silver) pretty much work on all older calipers.

What are you thinking of building?

That’s interesting to hear, I was going to plump for SLX levers due to the Servo-Wave gumf. In your opinion is that not worth it?

Shimano say that all calipers and levers are compatible. I’ve run new servowave levers with both ‘lod’ xt and xtr calipers. Work fine.

Juries still out whether the servowave levers are any better than the old levers.

If you have the cash then go for the SLX levers rather than the older levers.

Servo wave Slx will work fine on older systems.
