My wife’s 1 series is due a service (<24kmiles). I’m happy taking it to the BMW garage for the service but as far as I can tell they do an intelligent service where the car computer tells them what needs to be done and the service technician does no more, no less; and I get charged for the appropriate components of the service.

I’ve been told to expect a £250 bill; that’s fine as it only gets a service e dry couple of years.

Now, this servicingStop reckon they will do a full service covering almost everything for £200 – this includes drop off and pick up and a service a a specialist garage.

Has anyone used ServicingStop for a BMW service, and how’d it go?

No smart comments about the 1series please; my wife likes the look of them, that’s why we bought it (and as a massive thank you for putting me through Uni).

for the sake of £50 is it worth missing a dealer service stamp?

Also there are probably benefits of having the car plugged in and analysed properly. BMW have been developing servicing based on use for a long time as even my old G reg 325i used to have some kind of ‘intelligent’ service indicator. It was very crude but it was a start.

And can you also guarantee that the filters and fluids they use will be OEM spec? There is a massive variation in cheap filters and cheap oils.

I have worked briefly at a large dealer (not BMW) when I was a kid so I am aware that sometimes what they say they will do is different to what they do but the BMW trained mechanic I spent a lot of my time with was extremely professional and did everything by the book and did work others didn’t want to tackle. He may have been an exception or he may have been a good representation but I would still go to the dealer if it’s not much more unless it was an older car and I had a good independent I trusted more.

Not £50 though is it as comparing a full service against a partial one
And you don’t have to go to a dealer to maintain warranty etc
Having said that I didn’t use services top in end when i looked into them last year I got cheaper by going direct to the same garage they would have used I also read some pretty bad complaints about them on Internet, and heard that the dragons den investment from a few years ago didn’t happen because which ever dragon it was ended up not happy with the way they ran their business, ended up with a big disclaimer on their (think it was Deborah meaden) website distancing them for servicing stop
They constantly bombard me with junk emails and phone calls now though, but I guess if you have already contacted them you will get same regardless if you use them or not

I’ve just booked my Audi in for its variable service (happens to be about every 2 years). I got prices from the local Audi independant specialist and compared it to the Audi dealer price. Coincidently the dealer was about £50 more. I ‘invited’ them to lose the £50 which they did so there was nothing in it price wise in the end. Still £450 for service and MOT though 🙁

Get a price from a local Beemer specialist and do the same.

Make triple sure that you are actually getting a “full service” that complies with the manufacturers schedules from this other garage. To many of these one stop service places a full service is simply an oil and filter change. As an example, a full 72,000 mile service on my 147 includes the cam belt and the spark plugs – plugs alone are about £60.

Oh well; £350 for a service from the dealer. I’d pay Mojo more for some Saturday lad to strip and clean my shock and forks once a year.
