So I’ve got my website live but haven’t set up the SEO section of the builder yet.
What sort of things is best to improve the findability* of the website on search engines?

    here’s the site: http://www.outstanding-landscapes.com

Any help would be gratefully received 🙂

Sections I’ve got in the website builder are:

    Title
    Description
    Keywords

Those look like the meta tags for each page Steve, the only one that has any relevance for SEO is the title, the description alters what Google displays for that page if your site is displayed in the search results and should be something that entices views to click on it . Keywords is irrelevant these days.

Get those updated to something that is relevant to the page but also includes some keywords about your product.

Next thing you need to do is add some page titles, I can’t see any heading (h1) tags on your home or about pages so doing that will improve things further.

It’s a bit ‘how long is a piece of string’ with SEO but Google really likes new, relevant content so if you can find a way of adding to the site on a regular bases this that would be another good boost.

Give me a call if you want talking through anything.

The best SEO you can do is to have content people want to look at. Most else is snake oil and Google are wise to all the tricks.

As the man says. Google go to a lot of trouble to bin people who use tricks and reward people who produce nice stuff. There is so much to think about it is ridiculous but in reality if you create a site that people want to go to and will talk about then you are already a long way down the line. The Google info is here http://static.googleusercontent.com/media/www.google.com/en//webmasters/docs/search-engine-optimization-starter-guide.pdf

But, for example, doing something like ‘here’s the site: http://www.outstanding-landscapes.com’ is ok but better would be

‘here’s my site with 3D landscapes site: http://www.outstanding-landscapes.com’

Google tries to work out what URLs are about from the text nearby, amongst other things.

As jamesfts say, you need to be using H1 tags instead of just bold text for things like ’21st Century landscape sculptures, custom made to your requirements.’. Search engines use those tags to work out what paragraphs are about. They may also use the bold/strong stuff but as I understand H1 is more important.
