Thomson. There, that was a short thread!

I've just ordered a dirt cheap Identiti one from CRC for £17.99 (along with some other bits).

Haven't got it yet (and I haven't even had e-mail acknowledgement yet after ordering yesterday) so I can't really comment on it – it's probably out of stock knowing my luck.

But it's a 27.2mm tube with a clamp on the top to stick my saddle on, which was about the limit of my requirements.

OK. How cheap? What usage? Layback or not?

I always loved the Race Face Deuce that I had on a Rocky Mountain and this one looks like a pretty good alternative:

BTW – Buy right, buy once. You wouldn't be disappointed with a Thomson in the long run.

    thompson are really that good?

    its a seatpost

ive had oem IRD ones from kona

a selection of raceface, dh and xc – on sale all 30 quid or less

and a 10 quid cheap one from halfords

never broken one, never come loose never bent, dont even squeak

im not a lightweight and have ridden lots of uplift days megavalanches, dh races xc races, enduros trailcentre weekends etc etc

the only ever seatpost ive seen fail was a superlightweight USE one

other than bike tartiness (which is an acceptable reason imho) why do you need to spend lots on a seatpost

Gotta be Thomson! One of the best decisions I ever made was to buy one.
