  • Seat post shim & a carbon frame: would you do it?

I like my 27.2 Gravity Dropper, but I also like my new 31.6 carbon seat tube and 5 yr warranty (Scott Spark)
    Am I being over cautious?
Are shims longer than 100mm readily available?

I used the same post & a shim in my c456 for a couple of winters without any problems.

I was tempted but in the end I didn’t risk it on my carbon Remedy…might have risked if I could have found 100mm+ shim

I did for years. Didn’t die.

You’re overthinking. Put a shim in. Never had issue on any carbon frame with one. Including a Scott Scale.

I always used a 27.2 seatpost in my old carbon frames as they were the most bendy. Shimed to fit and no problems at all.
Carbon frames are better now but it wouldn’t put me off shimming if required.

My Scott road bike’s warranty is void if I use a shim.

    Carboncycles do long shims, though.

Was there not a thread on here a few years back where a Spanish chap did this on a devinchi frame, it snapped & freeborn / devinchi refused warranty?
