  • Scruffy Eunos selling issue – what would YOU do? (car experts please*)

I need shot of my previously loved Eunos (actually I do love it but not spending on it), the welding cost way more than it’s worth for the last 2 MOTs, and it now has an electrical issue meaning it doesn’t always start…

MOT runs to 5 March, I might get a test to see if it might pass cheaply as that would add value to the car (yes?) and selling it before March is probably not a good move.

Or, given it’s probs worth 2-300 spares and 500 running (now) is it even worth doing anything more than a clean and DIY touch up and on t’bay?

    At least I have a hardtop too…

    *OK, and you, hora 😆

PS out of interest what would MOTing a 2000 quid Panda 100 likely cost?

Sounds like an MX5 that’s made a previous appearance here to me… McMoonter not able to fix this time? 🙂

Like I say, last 2 x MOT cost more than the car, even with MC’s help.

See if it will pass an mot and sell disclosing the electrical fault and if not then advertise as spares or repair?

That’s probably what I would do. Not based on any science but more what I would feel was the right thing to do based on my values / motives / life view. Yours may validly differ. 😀

    eBay.

If it’s a Mk2/Mk2.5 then, unless you’ve already sorted them, you’ll find the chassis legs are probably well gone too, so spares only.

If it’s a Mk1 there’s more of a market, but poss for spares if the shell’s rotten.

Shame as they’re amazing cars. I’d love another.

2 lots of MoT welding is the left side, then the right side? So structurally good now. Electrics aren’t too complicated, so just damp or mice (ate our ht leads)? Sounds an easy one to sort if there are no more advisories for, or signs of structural rust.

If it has to go, eBay will probably be best way to shift it due to specialist interest.

Recently got a Panda 100hp, looked at some £2k ones, all seemed quite capable of passing MoT, but weren’t as nice as the £3k ones, although prices can be quite variable. Also a fun drive, but quite different to MX5.

The car inbetween them was A Porsche 944 S2, proper expensive to run.

Sell the hard top separately- they go for £400 ish on ebay.
And just stick the car on no reserve on ebay with an honest description, detailing all it’s problems.

Evening, At 200-300 I’d keep it, work on it. Or even just store it then revive nearer Summer. It’d sell for c£500 in a well worded, lots of pics ad then with minimal work. These things are too beautiful to give away for barely more than scrap value.

One day they’ll be very valuable.

Signed hora, previous owner of 2xmk2.5’s lesser looking versions
