Was watching some old pathe videos on youtube and found this nice wee video of the Scout national cx champs in 1968, thought it worth a post on here

Is that Gilwell? The ponds look like it. I went there as a nipper so my memory could be hazy.

Back in the days when Scouts were encouraged to do active things with an element of risk. My old Scout troop do more craft and computer activities than outdoor stuff now, it brings a tear to my eye.

I found an old Scouting Ladybird book a couple of weeks ago and it had a cyclo cross page in it. I never knew there was a connection before that.

When I was a lad our district still ran the cx events, but they died a death sometime between 1996-2010, I might have to see about restarting it one of these days.
We ran a cub cycle day the year before last and the kids loved the XC course we created in a couple of hours, even with some pretty hefty falls.
