  • Scored rotors, what's the worst that's likely to happen?

After a day of riding in appalling conditions on Sunday, my brake pads completely disintegrated some distance from home. The result is that I must have been riding on the pad backing plates, and even though I was as careful as possible there is quite bad scoring to the front disc in particular. My question is, should I replace the discs (the back pads had completely worn away as well), or will they be okay? My main concern is that I will experience a dramatically shortened pad life, or am I just being daft?

If they are badly scored they will just eat break pads.

I’d just put a new pair of pads in and see how you go. if they last 5 mins, change the discs, otherwise just leave them as they are.
