Ive got 3x sata ports on my mobo.
All three are in use as is the IDE and I want to add another HDD.
Bro has given me an old 250Gb SATA.

Is there any such thing as a sata data splitter?
I have a spare IDE connection I could use.

Something like this would work, I’ve used them quite a few times in the past: Sata to IDE

    Had another look,
I have 1x IDE with a double connector ribbon. Master being used, slave is spare.

CD ROM, SSD (OS) and 1xHDD are on the 3x SATA ports

Spare HDD is SATA only and none of the other SATAs have IDE ports.

So I guess my best bet is to get an IDE HDD, or maybe a USB/SATA cable?

    aha! nice one nobeer.
I’ll look into that. I take it I can stick it in the back of the SATA HDD and then connect the slave connector on the IDE ribbon to it?

EDIT: In fact it looks exactly like thats what I can do

If you have a spare PCI-E slot you could buy a SATA Card for about £25, that will be a lot faster than the SATA>IDE converter.
