I currently use a Spesh Aviator 155mm but am finding it a bit uncomfortable after an hour or so riding and need a 2nd one for the new build anyway.

Ideally I’d like something a bit wider and with a bit more padding but don’t want it to look like a black blob and ruin the look of the new bike. I’ve considered a Brooks but something about them can’t convince me, mainly as I don’t know anyone who has one to get 1st world experence from I guess. I do know they are a bit wider at 180mm but take some breaking in.

So what are you all sitting on while covering the miles?

I have a Brooke’s c17 for my tourer, pretty comfortable on long days and nice lines, IMO at least.

Padding does not necessarily equal comfort. Go to a Specialised or Trek dealer and get yer sit bones measured on their ‘arseometer’
Bontrager (Trek) saddles can be returned within a month and swapped or refunded, by the way.

Specialized do a 168mm wide Romin.

as a “small” person I find Charge Spoons to be great on MTB

Brooks aren’t as wide as you’d think – the metal frame is uncomfortable to sit on and eats up effective width.

Also be aware that the frame rail design on some Brooks seats means there’s not a lot of forward/backwards adjustment.

I had the Charge Spoon and found it to be quite uncomfortable. Eventually replaced it with the Romin which is very comfortable. It has more flex than the Spoon, but that gives it the comfort I wasn’t getting from the padding in the Spoon. The result being a sleeker looking, yet more comfortable saddle. The Romin is the most comfortable saddle I’ve used since my Selle Italia Flyte which went to saddle heaven a long time ago.

Skeleton doesn’t change. You don’t need a fat ass saddle.
