    Got a low stack headset off eBay. Unfortunately it’s missing the top bearing shield/top cap. The way I understand how headsets work is that this part is non-critical, its job is just to protect the bearings. The clamping is done by the tapered insert that goes into the bearing. I’ve found by chance a perfect sized seal that would do that job. Is there any reason why running like this would be an issue.

    This is for a pottling bike so I imagine it won’t go in the rain.
