    Hi
Trying for 2nd and last time.
I need bars, fixing kit and bike carrier for my new Bmw 1 series 5 door.

Dont want one that clamps round the frame and scraches hell out of your bike.

    Regards.

You’re not likely to get a positive answer by writing a request in that manner.

Have you tried somewhere like the Roofbox company? Although you might wish to brush up on being a little less abrasive 😉

What’s wrong with putting them inside the car with the seats down? I have an F20 1er and always do this. I did use my rear carrier that fitted my old 87 1er but it did rub a little so swapped to inside. I took 1 large 26er and 29er to Scotland last week with all associated kit, no issues.

ive used the thule 561 and mont blanc barracuda in the past although it holds the bike by the frame ive never had a problem with it scratching the frame at worst you could wrap some clear 3m tape where the carrier touches the frame or some thin rag ? ….I find if im gonna loose any paint its normally on my wheels where the straps clamp there

    Jacob46,
I’ve a couple of the older frontwheel-off Velo-vise that I’m thinking of selling. PM me if it’s something you’d be interested in

When you’ve left the front wheel in the car park, you’ll wish you’d bought a Thule 591 and rinsed your frame at the clamping point. Otherwise a fork clamping Thule 561 is what you want.

We’ve a plethora of superb bike racks here in North America.
Several tyre clamping roof racks but even more hitch mount options.
Hitch mount is the business but not taken on board in Europe unfortunately.

OP could you not just get something to protect the down tube?

You could use a large DH swingarm type neoprene guard or an old tea towel…

or look for an upside down carrier clamps on bars and saddle. Thus saving the frame…

Been using roof mount frame clamp carriers for years now. Never managed to ‘scratch the hell out of my bike’ maybe I’m too careful, don’t see what the fuss is about.

Thule OutRide 561 clamps onto the back wheel and the front forks, works very well
