Decided to put my shiny roadbike onto the turbo trainer for the winter, and have a Conti turbo-trainer tyre for the purpose.

In trying to fit the bright yellow hard trainer tyre I can't help but notice that the fit is b@st@rd-tight!

Any words of wisdom about how to fit the **** thing without pinching and puncturing the tube (which I've done twice now!)??

    Dumb question I'm sure …

Stretch the tyre by standing on part of it and pulling up hard on the top of it. Rotate tyre a few times.
Try fitting it without the tube and leaving it to stretch for a bit.
    Use soapy water while fitting.
Heat the tyre up a bit before fitting it (hairdryer usually works).
TTFU and get out on the roads instead on normal tyres.

One or more of those should work.

Have you put a bit of air in the tube first?
A bit of soapy water to act as a lube round the tyre bead can help too.
Once the bead is on,add a bit more air and work round the bead with your thumbs to check its seated right and the tube is not pinched, add a bit more air,and so on.

    what rim's are you using?
    (some rims are stupidly oversized/tight)

They're the Bonti SSR rims that came with my Trek 1.7.

MTB tyres are a piece of proverbial compared to this – glad I've only got one wheel to do, but if it doesn't go on soon I will be gently heating the tyre alright – in the oven at 200C!!

True I wish my road tyres were as easy,as my mtb tyres.
First time I tried changing the tyres on my road bike,I pinched the tube and was left with my ears ringing as the tube exploded as it reached 90psi………..

Fairy liquid and water-foam it up and wack it on.

Also check tyre size and rim size too.
