    I’ve just found out he’s died.
    The name won’t mean much outside the Scottish climbing fraternity, but The High Mountains of Britain And Ireland os one of the definitive books on Scotland’s mountains with brilliant route descriptions. he was one of the most highly thought of people in conservation and climbing and a damn nice chap as well

    ouch.
    Founder (?) member of the John Muir Trust, as well. Certainly a trustee until recently.

    Their numbers are reducing, after the death a year or so back of Malcolm Slessor.

    That book is a classic. Inspired me hundreds of times when I was a bagger.
