    Takes the shine off though doesn’t it? In a long line of creative geniuses that were not necessarily nice people*. If you can appreciate one whilst temporarily ignoring the other I guess is down to the listener.

    *I think there is some inference that some of what Berry got busted for might have been brushed under the carpet if he had been white. Does not make it right but makes his legacy look rougher than contemporaries of the time who ‘might’ have got away with more.

    I think most of the coverage has been pretty fair in acknowledging that he was far from a saint in several respects.

    Incredible talent though and a defining figure in 20th century culture.

    I always felt his cousin, Marvin Berry, never got the credit he deserved.
