I’m sure she was a lovely person, but I always hated her musical output.

The punk ethos threw up some great and spontaneous music, but it also generated atonal, cack-handed efforts such as Cut, which was genuinely one of the worst records I ever heard. The Return Of The Giant Slits was even worse – jazz influences ferchrissakes – though thankfully that was the end of the band for a couple of decades. Terrifyingly, they came back in the mid-00’s to wail a bit more, but the world was just as interested as it had been the first time around i.e. not at all.

Not punk, not reggae, not listenable. Proof that musicians should actually be able to play, at least a bit.
