Bit surprised how little weight difference there is

Any other advantages of carbon over steel?

um yes there’s quite a big difference 🙂 I’m riding a Swift with steel forks & I can confirm they are at least three times the weight of my carbon Niners (guessing, I haven’t weighed them).

on-one carbons are quite hefty (for carbon). Niners are almost half the weight, though mucho spendy of course

My White Bros forks are 750g, the Salsas that they replaced were 1100g or thereabouts, so even with cheaper forks you can save 300g or so. They feel a lot more damped as well: I used to find that the steel ones used to twang me off in random directions; the carbon ones, while they still flex quite a bit, feel a lot more controlled and, well, less twangy.

Short full carbon on-one proto forks, with a 2deg angle set in a carbon lurcher 29er frame. I really must get it built!
