ahhhhh too many cameras, too many features. I am a bit lost here, I currently own a Ricoh GX100 which appears to be universally loved by review sites.

    I bought it for

RAW images, to photo my work.
    Viewfinder.
    Metal construction.
Can take AA batteries if needed.
    wideangle.
Cross between SLR and the ixus i it replaced.
    supernormal look to it.

    What I have found

    Too many features.
    Don't really need RAW.
I'm worried about dropping or loosing it.
    Won't fit in my pocket.
The battery lasts so long I don't need the nice feature.
It doesn't seem to take pics as fast as i would like (this could be my fault)

    What I would like

    Good battery life
    Pocket-able
Will take a few knocks, mobile phone like resilience.
quick so i can take snaps on the move.
    nice easy menus.
Would like to be able to take good photos once in a while for my design work, so not to shit.
perhaps i tripod thread would be appreciated.
    macro.
    Good auto function.
Good image stabilization (this again might be my fault)

I had been looking at these 'outdoor' cameras the canon is a brick, the pentax looked the ticket but some lad on dpreview has got through 3 of them, apparently the seals are designed to be replaced.

    I've got a GX100 as well.
Think you can buy them for about £220 with the EVF viewfinder now.
The CX2 is probably as expensive – if not more.
You've got to shoot RAW. There is so much more control over the final image when you do.
Battery life is also good on the GX100. Maybe just buy a spare?
It's certainly small. And the only downside being it feels a little fragile and the lens mechanism has been said to lend itself to dust ingress which might exclude it from rough and tumble outdoor duties. Thought I read somewhere the waterproof Canon was a good one though.

yeah the canon d10 is getting good reviews but is a bit bulky to be a pocket camera, although i have not seen it in the flesh. Plus these reviews are by pros so they are noticing things i may not.
