Right I have a 3 day canoe trip booked this weekend and have kind of messed up with a campsite on Saturday night around Ross-on-Wye and the main pub campsite is full.

I was wondering if anyone knows of any farms or similar that have a campsite near the river around ross on wye?

They had a campsite a few years ago. May just be B&B now.

Symonds Yat close enough? campsite right on the river, iirc you can launch straight from the campsite.

canoed and camped on that river many moons ago –just hooked up on the river bank !– was with my dad , the rain that had fallen the previous 24 hours raised the river by eight feet in about four hours–we awoke in the middle of the night in the middle of a river –wss pretty nuts really–we got away with our lives–walked a few miles barefoot in the dark–canoe was found a few miles down river, farmer saw the tent at first light and reported us missing to police–my dad reported to the cop shop just before they were sending divers lookin . An eventful end to a great trip.

Ah yes, the rapid rise of the wye after rain. That one got me when camping many years ago, too.

The Ferry in Symonds Yat have a field that often seems to have campers, they’re canoe friendly. I think they also do B&B if you fancy a bed that doesn’t suck.
