    Our hob has seen better days, looking to replace it with something a bit newer that works 😉

    Is installing it as simple as disconnect wires, reconnect to new hob, fit it in the hole and away I go?

    More or less, yes. Should be a junction point for the cable with a cable clamp on it.

    Make sure the new hob has the same loading as the old one. It will state on the unit something in the region of 5kw. Very often they are awkward to connect and make sure your connections are tight, lots of current has to flow thro these, you dont want these getting hot.
