I’ve got an old Berghaus jacket that is perfect for biking. Only problem is that one of the taped seams on a zip has failed.
It’s not covered by the lifetime guarantee and was looking at sending it to LSR but just thought I’d check to see if there were any alternatives/things I could try myself..
    Here’s the offending item:

Is that really not covered by the lifetime guarantee? I can understand if they say zips aren’t covered but the zip hasn’t actually failed has it, just the fabric holding the zip.

Apparently it’s wear and tear. It’s 9 years old..

Yup….that could be an easy 1…. Get some “Tenacious Tape.”

Open zip and put some tape on inside. Cut tape do you can open zip again.

Reinforce with more tape on outside. Again, cut tape so you can open zip.

    Job done.

    mc nett seam grip

    it will be ugly tough
and it might be too close to the zip on the outside.

Tape over the whole shebang. Forget about that pocket?

I would open up a seam in the lining, and maybe the pocket, to gain access to the inside. Then you can get it flat to tape it accurately.

    Thanks for the ideas.

I did have that thought. Don’t really use it anyway..

+1 for carefully applied McNett Seamgrip. I have successfully repaired identical zip/garment separation.

    This

But temporary tape on the outside then seamgrip on the inside. Then remove tape when cured. Perfect invisible repair

I’d do the whole zip while I was at it to stop any further probs
