I’m changing pins over in a 2nd hand pair of flats, except it would seem quite a few of the traditional top-hex-bolt-head type don’t want to budge and have rounded off. (always thought this was a bit of a design fail)

Anyone got any brainwaves on the best way to get the little buggers out before I start getting busy with the hacksaw?

    To clarify the pin type:

Mole grip very tight on the sticky outy bits.

My surgeon had to use them on the bolts in my hip when he rounded a couple off trying to get them out, so they’re not always the wrong tool for the job…

Penetrating fluid, or get a hacksaw and cut a slot in the top to take a screwdriver.

    OK. Molgrips out, hacksaw primed.

    Cheers!

Two down, one stubborn git to go.

Then it’s onto pedal number two.

They do have thru pins too, which are good.

TDH, I think these are the way forward:

    Good luck PMJ.

The best ones I’ve found are the thru pins. I’ve just changed mine on my superstar nano’s and it was stupidly easy. On the straitlines there’s a few that are bashed and hard to get out.
