I have a cream leather (possibly faux leather, shiny plasticy surface but could be cheap leather) sofa, rented property, and while I've taken great care to keep it clean and not get ink etc on it, I recently put down a pen on it (with the nib retracted) only to be horrified when I picked it up that the red rubber grip has imparted it's indelible wisdom upon the cream surface. The grip doesn't seem to leave red on anything else, and doesn't rub off when rubbed, it's almost like the leather surface has chemicals in it that have leached the dye out of the red rubber.

Question is, how to remove. So far I've tried (carefully, with test areas used first:)

    Leather ink removal "lipstick"
    bleach, carefully masked
    WD40
a few different solvents and items found on the internet.

None have worked. Likewise none have hurt the surface. Tips please? I'm leaving in a month and don't want to be buying a new sofa for 30 seconds of pen grip contact!

Surely the Oracle has the answer to this!
