Heading to Nth Wales with a gang of mates, from Dublin, for a long weekend in a couple of weeks time. Previously we’ve been over and done most of Coed y Brenin and Penmachno too. Just looking for recommendations for trails in the area. We’re all of a high competency so the more interesting the better.

As you go up the A5 just before Tryfan (Tryfan is on the left), on the other side is a bridleway / vague path / boggy swap wade-a-bike section going up into the carneddau and onto a brilliant rocky trail by a lake edge. That’s about as much detail as I can remember, there’s a steep road decent and another lake, and a great rocky descent that brings you out on the A5 again by Capel Curig. Lots of fun rocky stuff, a classic old-school XC style ride. I’m sure it’s in a guidebook or someone here knows where the details are.

Loads of stuff in Gwydyr Forest. Festiniog downhill has just opened, which isn’t too far.
