Can anyone recommend me a good value, £10 to £20 main course, restaurant in central Edinburgh?

Will be there over New Year and would like a decent place to eat on the lunchtime/early afternoon of 31st Jan.

    Thanks in advance

La Garrigue is good and in that price range. But pretty much take your choice. Probably easier to narrow it down to what sort of thing you are looking for and where.
Room in……. are all pretty good.
    Howies pretty good
    The Apartment
Honestly huge list which others will continue.

Pick one or two which interest you and ask about them. probably get a better idea.

From this list, which is not exhaustive.

For fish, steak,… kind of food – done well:

    Wildfire Restaurant and Grill
    192 Rose Street

Newish place. You have to book though. Always always busy.

Note – Howies in the west end is no more.

Ordering food online is the new finding a restaurant to get a quick bite. This is the Edinburgh takeaway page of hungryhouse. So order your food online and eat it where you want:) You can pay online or in cash, but if you want it delivered to a park – pay online and no questions will be asked. Of course there is always the boring option of eating in your hotel room!!

You will need to book. Good luck ! It’s v busy in Edinburgh at that time of year, loads of tourists milling around with FA else to do.

And what do you get for lunch at la Garrigue for £20 ?? The side salad and a glass of water ?? Nice food oui, value for money non non non.

If I had visitors at that time I would go to a pub outside of town, that place at Duddingston – Stag’s Heid I think ? Nice walk around Arthurs Seat in the snow to work up an appetite. That will kill most of the day too. And you can book the victorian skittle alley in the back pretty cheap.

(will never go the Patio again after was there for a works do. They charged us £55 for two bottles of Becks, wordlessly corrected it when we spotted it, like it was routine. I bet loads of big groups don’t even check. Have heard a few stories like that about the Patio)
