Needs to be (easily) accessible by train from both London and Scotland. We (3 lads) will be looking for somewhere cheap-ish to stay for a couple of nights (<£40pppn), bunkhouse or hostel type accomodation would be fine, with at least one good pub serving good food nearby. Riding on the doorstep please.

Have stayed in Hope in the Peak District the last few years, which has worked well on all counts. Now just looking for something different.

Any ideas?

Owned by a friend a cracking place, it’s not near a train station though but taxi pick up should be easy to organise and then it’s about 18 miles from the station.

You could use the train from Leeds to Carlisle and get off at Dent Station – loads of good riding around Dentdale/Sedburgh

Alternatively you could get the train to Windermere or Staveley and ride the Lakes
