You know the kind, the little ones tucked away behind pubs, or at the back of farms or at the end of someone’s garden.

We’re looking to get away in the campervan for the Jubilee weekend and don’t really fancy staying on an ‘obvious’ site as they’re likely to be rammed. It’d be great to find somewhere tucked away which will be a bit quieter. Happy for it to be pretty basic, as long as it has a shower and a bog.

Ideally (obviously) a pub nearby would be a bonus.

Location wise, within 3hrs from Chelt/Glos (in any direction).

Bigbloke – yep, been looking on there, just wondered what gems the STW hive mind might be able to uncover.

    Morning Si,

Can highly recommend joining the caravan club, the book they publish has hundreds of sites just like the above, some are restricted to members only, some not.

I’ve stayed on a couple of farms that are CC only, and are great.

Try Chapel Farm Campsite in Rosthwaite

Its right out of the way, very basic but the location is amazing. There’s a pub within walking distance. You can walk up the valley and jump off the rocks in the plunge pools. They don’t mind you having a fire either

The views up the valley are awful….

    Hello fella.

Cheers, but, you know, the Caravan Club? Isn’t that a bit, you know, like the Ramblers? 😉

theres a couple of CC sites that front castlemorton common, Malverns.

CC members only, but they’re just little orchards tucked out the way.
Probably not far enough away for you, but I think the CC may be a goer based on what these ones are like.

You’ll need to buy a Rover 200, elasticated waist trousers and subscription to Readers Digest to go with the CC membership though 🙂

Can you not get rocket powered campervans? Its worth considering if you’re planning a longer trip. Its a top place!

Curses, just got rid of a Rover 200. As for the rest, well, what can I say, they’re very comfortable and there are often some very interesting articles…

Maybe too far away for you, but http://www.blackberrywood.com/

If you book early enough, you can ‘camp’ in a Helicopter or a London Bus!

piedi – looks cool, is 2hrs59mins away according to Google, but doesn’t take campervans 🙁

Which is nuts really, as people must arrive by car and car + tent takes up far more room than a T5 campervan, grr.

http://www.eypehouse.co.uk/ – dorset coast, simple camping section, simple beach just off the site.

Stayed there last year. Pub is a couple of hundred yards down the road (with its own, busier campsite). Easy travelling distance to trail centres if you are in the mood, great natural riding on the doorstep.

Castlehaven, St Catherine’s Point, Isle of Wight

This one has a real tucked away, end-of-the-line feel. Great coastal/cliff walks nearby and a cracking pub, the Buddle Inn, right on your doorstep.
