I want a decent SILENT (ish) hub ... no offence to Hope but I aint listening to that whilst I am riding (no digs now about not freewheeling now)
Looking to spend about £100 ish and mainly XC type duties strong but not bombproof
Bonus if available in Gold and prefer 6 bolt IS
Thanks

My old Shimano XT was silent but fell apart every time it saw a wet Cannock chase. Not sure it cost a ton at the time either.

You won't go far wrong with a Shimano XT for most stuff, gold not an option but fits the bill otherwise.

Again XT - ran them for at least 12 years (only three hubs in that time) - near silent and reliable.

I'd say shimano XT or the new SLX ones

my shimano XT is super smooth and silent, excellent for the SS
its a bit porky though and pickups a bit slow, the new xt 775 centerlocks are lighter and is where my money would go for a silent budget buildPosted 3 years ago #
