    I want bleak, ideally black and white photos of people… Along the lines of films like The Proposition and No Country for Old Men.

    Any ideas?

    Richard Avedon – American West. Large Format studio type stuff as opposed to location but very very good although the studio was a tent so technically they were location shots..

    Dorothea Lange might be a starting point, 30s America, depression era, Jack Delano also.

    have a look at Traudel Baumann. Website appears to be all in German though.

    There was a link on here years ago to a guy who took amazing shots of people in the streer/tube etc..captured at clever moments. I cant for the life of me remeber who it was any ideas?
