As title really, I usually have an LBV like Taylor’s so wondering what gems the STW massive can recommend.

    Certainly not Port Glasgow.

Niepoort 1994. Awesome. Mines not a lbv but I don’t know how much difference it makes.

Calais, it gets a lot of stick but it has always been my go-to port.

May I direct sir’s attention to this: http://www.finestandrarest.com/taylors-scion.html
I was lucky enough to accompany my father to a port tasting arranged by the owners of a port shipper, where we tasted a pre-phylloxera port, wasted on by 14 year old taste buds I’m sure, but one to tuck away in the experience bank.

    Warre’s 96.

Waitrose are doing a bottle at £28. Spicy, rich and warm.

Aldi’s tawny port – quite simply the nicest liquid I’ve ever had in my mouth.

I bet George would disagree with that Mildred. 😉

I don’t really know my port so this might be the equivalent of recommending Bells in a single malt thread, but this went down a treat with some cheese the other night. Only a tenner in Morrisons as well

I opened my bottle of 1970 Taylor’s Tawny last night. Got it for my birthday 2 years ago!

    It was very, very good.

Warre’s Otima is a great quaffer of a port. Lovely, light stuff.

However, for proper stuff, 1998 as a drinker, 2000 or 2003 as one for the cellar. From that point, it’s down to choice of shipper. Taylor’s, Warre’s or Fonseca for me, thanks.

If you’re on a budget, the other Aldi special – L.B.V. is a deal at £9 – bung it in a decanter to hide the non-premium name.

Reminds me to stick a bottle of Optima on the list of ‘essentials’

    Thanks 😀
