Beastie Boys are my favourite rap group of all time, the samples and the rhymes are untouchable I reckon. Paul’s Boutique is a masterpiece.

Agreed. I think I may prefer Ill Communication though, but I haven’t listened to Paul’s Boutique as much so it hasn’t had the same amount of time to sink in 🙂

Milk D feat Adrock – Spam is worth a listen!

To be fair I do like the Jay-Z collaberations with Linkin Park.

I usually let things like this pass because taste in music is a subjective preference. But you’re just wrong about this one.

Well what the f*ck would I know I’m 40! 😆

For me, the early 90s were the golden years of hip hop. I could list hundreds of incredible tracks, but here’s a small selection of absolute classics

Brand Nubian – Punks jump up to get beat down:

Das Efx – They want efx

Pharcyde – Drop

Fu-Schnickens – True Fuschnick

40? You’re a year younger than Jay-Z and had the golden age of hiphop in your youth! 😆

To be fair, I think my bitterness about that album is that I despise Linkin Park.

I created a playlist from the videos on here.
99 tracks!

included the novelty shit and the tired old 80s stuff (Dust Junkys!) just cos they were there 🙂 (Edit – just deleted ‘poo on you’ cos it was bloody annoying!)

Didn’t we all, back then? 🙂

Where did you see them?
Missed the reunion gig at the Roadhouse (didn’t even know about it till a year or so later, gutted).

They were homegrown, rough & ready and Lockett was a great lyricist and rapper.
They could actually play as well……….

haven’t read the thread but rapping is (or was) the term for hip hop music.

hip hop included breakdancing, graffitti and double dutch jump rope.

hiphop is a philosophy that demands that it’s subscribers practice the four elements

MCing (rapping)
DJing
Graffiti
Breakdance

It’s intent is to empower underpriviledged ghetto youth through music.. followers are called b-boys/b-girls

anyhoo.. here’s another track for your playlist Dez..

haven’t read the thread but rapping is (or was) the term for hip hop music.

Well the thread was started by someone asking for recommendations based on stuff he’d heard previously.
I suspect he’s heard Double Dutch.
I bumped it because I created a Youtube playlist of all the recommendations so I could listen to them all.

stay old skool. No 😉
