One is nearly twice the price of the other, is it worth the difference? I'm looking for a winter ride (bearings in the Intenses last weeks this time of year!) using the bits and pieces in my spares bin including a set of nearly new 140mm Vanilla RLCs. I know the Soul has a great reputation, but with the new CEN design is it too stiff? There seem to be plenty of Blue Pig fans out there - what do you think?

Oh good god Cotic Soul, i say, Cotic Soul....superb bike..yes not cheap but yes worth it ...COTIC SOUL i say.......i had an inbred 456 and oh dear what a terrible bike i bought into the hype of it and never got it at all, felt exactly what it was CHEAP...
Never rode a Ragley tho but i IMHO ya get what ya pay for i love my Soul...
I bought mine as a Winter hard tail and for using on rides where an FS is not needed and i ride the Soul more than my FS...i doubt you will regret the the soul.
But maybe the Pig is better than the 456 i have never ridden one..doubt it like.
If ya have the ££££££'s get the Soul...its beautifull...

Not ridden a Soul but am one of the Pig fans
All depends how deep your pockets are
I was/am on a budget. That is not to say that if after trying a whole load of bikes I may well have come back to the Pig anyway. It is just a case of I tried it, liked it, bought it.Posted 2 years ago # -
Oh Stiffness wise i assume the Pig has to pass the new regs too....so horses for courses.....SOUL you know it makes sense......

Do not like the chain/seat stay bit of pipe on the brake side, bit of an an after thought/compromise. Have seen some welded in squint/not square to other tubes(quality?)
Had that done to my Bonty 6/7yrs ago when I had a disc mount fitted. There because pipes are too thin.
Ragley idea is a better solution imo. Maybe not the tidiest but as you say it is cheap assume the Pig has to pass the new regs too

I wouldn't think the Ragley and Cotic are aimed at the exact same market? Remember that the Ragleys are pretty slack and I think designed for forks up to 140/150mm. My interpretation is it's really designed for low speed technical nadgery while the Cotic is more an XC/Trail bike. So what do you ride mainly?
If you want a cheaper alternative to the Soul then how about a Kinesis Decade Versa? Seems to be aimed for the same length fork but is £100 plus cheaper than the Soul.
No disservice to Cy intended. I have ridden a couple of Souls and think they are ace. If I had the money I'd defo go for one. Unemployment may mean I get a Versa though.

7Stanes, Peaks, Lakes, Howgills, NY Moors, everywhere really.Have 130 Marz fitted to mine, suits me dandy. May be "slack" but I have never noticed it. Maybe I just can`t analyze it

I had a brief shotty of Trekster's Ragley a few weeks ago and it didn't feel very slack to me. As he states, this could be due to the 130mm forks he runs.
