Hi all, sketching out a woodstore and wondering what size beams I need. Just got lost on a couple of websites getting into structural loadings calculations, and thought I could ask nicely on here instead.

Going double decker. How big should I go to support 100kgs of wood evenly distributed over a 1m span? 47mmx47mm enough? could I go smaller? Or should I go bigger? I could put more supports in and have 75cm span if that would be a more efficient use of wood (i.e. more wood, but if it allows thinner wood, could be cheaper overall)

    Thankyouplease!

    Sounds similar to mine.

There’s a couple of vertical supports made from a pallet, 2×4 and 2×6 (probably) in there.

Still standing after a few years.

    That’s a LOT of decking, 5th! 😯

Think I’m going to go for 75cm spans, only means another couple of lengths of wood, and means 75ks over 75cms rather than 100 over 1m.

    Big pallet then?!
