Is this too short? I had a new chain that I'd shortened for a MTB chainset, but then changed, so I thought I'd stick it on the Rat.
I think this is a bit short though - can I add some of the links back in and use another power link? TIA

yep looks well stretched in that gear - ive just accidentally taken 1 full link out when putting a new one on, and i think mine is longer than that, but still mine looks wrong, not that wrong though!
edit : i cant see how you would get that chain the 3rd front ring, so if you do run it, id avoid 3rd ring on the front...

you can add length with a power link as long as the used section isn't too worn.

www - it's got about 8 miles on it, just put it on last night and rode to work this morning. So I can add a few links back in and have a second power link then?

well doubt that would do a big big emergency / accidental shift in fact doubt that would do big chainring - middle of the cassette
better testing with the chain on the big chainring

Be surprised if he could get it into the big ring. Way too short.
Stick some more links in, using another power link.

It won't go onto the big ring at the moment anyway, I changed to a compact crankset last night (hence new chain/cassette) and it must be ever so slightly wider spaced, so the mech won't throw the chain far enough.
Job 2 for tonight!

I doubt it would even get there! Way way to short - did they do the largest sprocket and chainring sizing + 2 links?

Foxy - as I mentioned in my OP, I sized it for a MTB chainset (42 tooth big ring) and I whacked it on a 34/50 chainset without changing anything.
As long as I get home without any mishaps, it'll all be fine by about 18.30

To determine the size Park tools has all the information you'll need.
SIMPLE EQUATION: L = 2 (C) + (F/4 + R/4 + 1)
L = Chain length in inches. Round the final result to closest whole inch figure.
C = Chain stay length in inches, measure to closest 1/8”. Use chart below to find decimal measurement.
F= Number of teeth on largest front chainring.
R= Number of teeth on largest rear cog.
