  • Putting "mustache" bars (and similar) on for more upright position?

My girlfriends preggars and stopped cycling on her Ridgeback World Voyage touring bike a while back, but on a weekend away in France she quite liked cruising around on some velib hire bikes (similar to Boris bikes) because of the upright riding position.

Can i stick a mustache bar or something on her drop barred touring bike to create a similar upright position?
Does the geometry work and everything or is it going to be too short/steep or something?
Will the STI levers fit on ok?

It’s just for pootling along a cycle path on the sea front, nothing extreme.

Any advice appreciated, I’ve only really ever used flars/risers/drops and don’t know about all this.

Depends on how much you’d need to raise the bars?

A riser stem will give you a bit of height and some sweeper bars will make the position more upright too.

You wont really be able to switch over the STI levers, which makes things difficult.

Depends if its worth the effort for the short time it may be of use?

    Cow horns?

Like half a set of upside down drops.

Sti’s would fit but you might need a play with stems and angles.
