    She does miss him but she knows that he needs to live with his own kind, so as long as he is happy then we are.

    The only healthy animals I (subsequently) knew of that were destroyed were two rescue dogs my mother had taken in. But that was after they’d attacked and, frankly torn to shreds, a puppy we also had.

    Which was quite something for my mother to do, being a lifelong vegetarian and animal rights champion.

    But in this case, “even” for a rat, I’m pleased you did the right thing loddrik.

    It was a 90 mile round trip too to drop him off but it was absolutely worth it to know he’s now happier.

    90 miles?! I hope he’s not one of those animals that manages to find it’s way back home.
