Been a few times before and used Burnbake: used to be fantastic (quiet, woodlands, good facilities) but has gone downhill in the last few years (now use the big field next door, no control over who they let in, facilities over-used and now in need of a refurb etc).

There’s tons in the area, been looking at http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk
thinking of Woodyhyde (woods but right next to the railway) or the nearby Downshay (sloping pitches).

Anyone any experience or other recs?

+1 for Toms field. Very close to the Square & Compass pub which is well worth a visit or two.

Woodyhyde would be next to the steam railway line, so a bonus if you have kids (or if you like trains!) and they probably don’t run late. Plus it has that ace rocky downhill bit that you could spend a few hours practicing on. Square and Compass does have a certain pull to it though. Mmmmmmm, Cider 🙂

Following this one up in case anyone comes back to it.. we used Woodyhyde in the end. 3 fields, one huge, loads of space, not specified pitches (another field with electric hook-ups if required).

New shower block in the process of being built, existing one will then become loos – it is currently ‘past it’s best’! (only 3 mens showers which led to queues).

Found the ‘ace rocky downhill’ referred to by RichPenny above – drops right into the campsite!! And directly opposite is another BW that leads up to the Corfe to Studland ridge so a perfect base to explore the trails (we did a 20 mile off-road loop as a family one day).

..rode into Corfe for fresh bread and beer from the new local shop there each day too. Nice bottled beer / cider selection from local breweries 🙂

Think we stayed at burnbake, the one with the huge event field as you drive in?

Seemed great to me, 50% of the campers were in VeeDubs which is always a nice thing, showers were a bit of a low point, but it’s camping, anything upwards of washing in a stream is cheeting in my book!
