Long story short but steel frame repaired around seat tube hence paint went bye bye. Want to polish and protect the raw steel section. Not sure which rattle can is best option.

    Please educate me!

    Thanks

PU should be tougher. Arylic may adhere better or might not.

Make sure whatever you use is UV stable so it doesnt yellow (eg car stuff)

Thanks. And, if I overlap onto the existing paintwork will it bugger that up at all?

    Cheers

You would normally feather it in overlapping the existing but I would be tempted, especially if going PU, spray the whole frame. Thorough clean and degrease and maybe a rub with a gentle scotch pad. This will make your existing surface dull ready for the lacquer so is a point if no return! Prep is key, any contamination and it will come off so if in doubt just stick to the small area and slightly feather over the existing.

Feathering in sounds more like my skill/patience level!

    Thanks
