cinnamon_girl is going to be heading your way at the end of the month 8)

Having missed out on recent rides, I’m coming down for a little holiday so if anyone is around and feels they can put up with a girlie wuss, there’s a cream tea in it for you 🙂

Will do some Exmoor exploring too.

Gosh, I’m getting all excited 😀

    Thanks knottie 🙂

Hopefully Mr Young Fart will be able to put in an appearance.

If it’s OK with you guys, can I ask you about Exmoor routes? Got some routes in books/mags etc but would appreciate your local knowledge on whether they will be wuss enough for me.

Young Mr F – sure hope you can make the Sunday then, perhaps round up a posse?

knottie – thanks, very kind of you. Nothing wrong with a Singletrack Slackers Ride 😉 Need to get sorted with maps and do some routes research, that’ll be me in geek heaven 🙄

An evening inspection of the Q’s confirms it’s moist and still fun.

Not so much fun for the fella who binned it in weacombe…

We were coming back from beacon hill and i noticed a bloke pushing two bikes up the hill…

Inquiring he said his mate aint too well.

On inspection of the rider, heavy bruising to the rear rib cage, complextion grey, painful to breath, generally looking not good, i confirmed he was injured and needed to MTFU.

Actually we nursed him most the way along the ridge, then pinned it back to the cars and naughtily drove a little way along the ridge to collect him….He was then taken to A&E..

I suspect broken ribs, and possible shoulder damage…

Blimey, that’s not good sharki. You did well though helping out like that. Keep thinking I should go on a first aid course …

Don’t beat yourself up … you’re back on a bike and that’s the important thing. That is pretty rooty tooty though 🙂

I’m not too annoyed about it, i realize i’m not quite ready to attempt it with full commitment, but it will return, usually do it in the rain, frost whatever..You’ll be doing it by the end of your stay no probs…

Sounds about right, given the time and location Dibbs.

Did you see the large group out, some stil had race numbers on, looks like BBF lost riders..

Just flagging this up again. Am intending to wear body armour, will be on an MTFU course next week. Blimey, sounds as though the old girl means business 😯

Once Sunday’s massive Chilterns ride is over, I can concentrate on route planning.

A favour – can you tell that sunshine to hang around those hills please!

I’ve removed the hex fully now, after a fantastic haulin’ ride tonight.

The sun will be trying harder next week, so through the weekend maybe a good out look too.

😳 I think I’m a bad omen cos the sunshine is supposed to be disappearing this weekend in the Q’s 😳

I guess I’ll just have to visit all the (cream) tea shops then 😉

Oooh! I think I have! Courtesy of our lovely Tox guides, they even stood and recited poetry…. I think….. with history lessons. Or had I just fallen off and hit my head? 😉 Think some of it goes through the Qs.

Ridden all of it on the tox and walked it, and we did a bit on exmoor to, dunster path..

Gosh! They are so multi-talented 8)

Can’t say I know any of his works but I’m a pleb so hardly surprising.

Just thought it was interesting that there is a bridleway route as well as a walking route, actually it’s really aimed at horses but mountain bikers don’t have their disgusting habits 😉

Here’s a few lines from his most famous…

There passed a weary time. Each throat
Was parched, and glazed each eye.
    A weary time ! a weary time !
    How glazed each weary eye,
    When looking westward, I beheld
    A something in the sky.

The ancient Mariner beholdeth a sign in the element afar off.
At first it seemed a little speck,
    And then it seemed a mist ;
It moved and moved, and took at last
    A certain shape, I wist.
    A speck, a mist, a shape, I wist !
And still it neared and neared :
As if it dodged a water-sprite,
It plunged and tacked and veered.

At its nearer approach, it seemeth him to be a bike ; and at a dear ransom he freeth his speech from the bonds of thirst.
With throats unslaked, with black lips baked,
    We could nor laugh nor wail ;
Through utter drought all dumb we stood !
I bit my arm, I sucked the blood,
And cried, Bloody hell it’s Dibbs !

    Love it!! But will Dibbs?

Talking about deer – sunrise or sunset for stalking? Can I feed them?

    Anna-B

LOL at sharki. Gnottie’s favourite I recall.

    sharki

You’ll not get close enough to feed them, not a hope in hell..

As for stalking, closest i’ve crept to a feeding deer is about as about 100ft, but they are calving still and are very wary.

    cinnamon_girl

    Only joking about feeding 😀

Is that the red deer calving?

    I’ll bring my binoculars anyway.

    sharki

    Yeah Red deer.

There’s only about 30 odd roe deer and fewer Muntjacs..

Will easily get to see them anyway, guaranteed.
