If you ignore the label, they always turn out some very good bargains. My only concern would be the long term availability of spare frame parts.

For that price just buy a few mech hangers and probably a bearing kit to last you.

For that price just sell off all the parts and make a tidy profit

Looks a bit like an IH Sunday. Seems to have a DW link too.

No matter how you look at it, it's a bargain. And if your someone who just wants a dabble in DH on a DH bike then you can't go wrong.

or Superstar 'Prototype':

More of a Mondraker rip-off, but then that's just a Sunday rip-off, and at the end of the day they all just look like Treks anyway 😉

Don't think you can really tell from the picture TBH as ground level doesn't really show:

[img] [/img]

Plus if it's anything like the old Sunday it'll give up at least 5.5" of it's rear travel in Sag...

I like it, Yeah I'd want to see some geometry figures ideally, but if I Was buying a new DH bike on a budget, that would make the shortlist, with the distinct advantage over YT in the fact that I can go and look at one in my local Decathlon...

on the khs site its listed as 64deg and 14.2inches (assuming they are the same bike), half inch higher than the (ridiculously low) latest demo 8.

Interesting looking at that haibike link (assuming it's exactly the same), similar parts, apart from Syncros rims.... Really? and a Vivid shock...

64 deg HA and all three sizes are 40cm (~16") seat tubes, only vary in TT length, Decathlon only show M and L on their site, suggesting they've trimmed costs a shade more by not accommodating short arses...

16" frame would suggest anyone under 5'6" or over 6'4" ish should maybe give it a miss?

No BB height given but it can't be too high or else Superstar's rigorous QC would reject it...

Those sizes look pretty sensible but then the Astro frame's been around for a while so there could be iterations, I've seen it quoted with a 65 degree head angle too.

Even ignoring the frame, you couldn't buy the rest of the bike for that much.

I don't see what the fuss is about?

The geo is average at best, the kinematics are a crap shoot, the parts are heavy/crap.

Er. It's a shade over a grand? Not sure how much you have to spend to get a bike with kinematics included - I've not seen those. Are they available anodised?

The spec is pretty comparable to the YT Tues, which is generally considered one of the best entry level dh bikes ever... better in some respects, and it's just a little over 2/3ds the price, that's what the fuss is about. Oh, and you can go and bounce on it in a shop- not something you can do with any of the direct sales.

Nope, it's a DH bike so the seat tube length tells you very little

Ahem...

Indeed:

I'm sure I read a review of this bike in mbuk.

Don't think it was very favourable.

Found it...

http://www.bikeradar.com/mtb/gear/category/bikes/mountain-bikes/full-suspension/product/review-decathlon-btwin-rockrider-drowp-9-13-47191/

But 3/5 with a dodgy pre-production shock and a £2200 price tag still bodes well for a bike costing half that.
