  • Problem getting the gxp/truvativ adapter out of a hope BB

I want to use my hope BB with a new crankset but I can’t shift the gxp adapter that is in there. Anyone got experience of getting one out or is it just easier to buy a new bearing?

Probably best to leave the BB in the frame and use a screwdriver to tap it out from behind

you need to file a small slot in it before fitting it.

LBS got mine out with some creativity.

i think knocking the inner out first is best, then the outer, they are salvageable normally

you need to take the bearings out of the BB cup first, then take the dust seal off, the you will see one side of the adapter is more proment of the other side – get a flathead screw driver in there and prise it off, then with the other side a home made drift would work to tap the otherside out – i used an old set of handlebars with 4 cuts in the end to make a kind of small headseat extractor, bashed through with a rubber hammer

    worked a charm
