I’ve only ever bought off the peg bikes before so haven’t had and experience of building them up.

Basically, is it possible to get a half decent build on a Prince Albert or a steel 456 for £1000. If so, what is the sort of stuff you would spec’?

    Thanks for your help.

    New or Used Parts?

Either way it is possible, but you will arguably get a better build if you use good quality 2nd hand parts.

I don’t think there is an arguably about it, but it just might take you a little longer to get the build you want.

This year I’ve (slowly) built up a Prince Albert from mostly 2nd hand parts for around £775. If I’d used a new frame instead of 2nd hand it’d be under £1000 still. Got it all written down in a spreadsheet if you’re interested!

    I’ve just found this

So that (almost) answers the question.
