So I’ve managed to get my hands on an XS Cotic to build up a new bike for my daughter…next step have it powder coated an appropriate colour…giving her a couple of choice options she wants the original Cotic ‘Aqua’ with a couple of choice purple parts!

I want a nice glossy quality finish on it, as if I’d brought it direct from Cotic…I could send it away but that ads to the cost…anywhere local to me that could do a top job?

Live in Stourbridge & work in Worcester so anywhere close to either is good, within 10 miles or so ideally.

    Also any photos?

    Cheers

There’s a Powdercoaters in Blackpole trading estate in Worcester that are very good, and very reasonable.

If you can make it to Birmingham then try Powder Coatings on the Tyburn Road in Erdington.

I’ve had 10-15 frames done over the years and there good. Massive choice of colours too.

Alternatively look into proper alloy wheel refurbishment places. I’ve found a place up in Lichfield who do a good job albeit with reduced colour choice. He’s always got fairly high end cars in for wheels to be tidied up and the work is good. I’d guess that you have places like this closer to you too.

Jekkyl – any more info would be good? I’ll look into that.

Mboy – that would be super convenient as I’m often in and around Blackpole! Got any more info? Do they strip as well? I’d like to take it in as it is, powder coated and walk away with it like a new frame.

st – Got the name of the one on Tyburn road.

Any photos of jobs down would be ace to…what sort of costs are these places?

Frederick Cooper in Brum are very good, depends if they have your colour though. They do a lot of work for Bentley, Aston Martin etc.

Chris Ward at CJ Ward in Burton on Trent is a good also, really nice bloke.

nwill1, they are called “Powder Coatings”

I’d also forgotten Dirty Customs, I’ve had a frame done by Rob there before, so definitely worth following your enquiry up.

Dirty customers looks to be about £75 and of course specialising in bike frames by the looks of it…bit pricey though or is that the going rate for a decent job?

I realise it’s not West Midlands but not too far away. Have used the below a couple of times and he is a decent chap with good prices.

Thank you Twonks…yes I know of this guy he’s a regular contributor on Orange Riders group.

His work looks good…I was considering him but looking for something local to avoid postage costs…similar price Dirty Customs but can drop it off there/

Check their website out, give them a call. Not had one done personally but have many customers who’ve had their frames done here… Only word of warning is you will need to be fully prepared to get all your surfaces faced and bores reamed again though, got a customer’s bike in at the moment and he didn’t remove all his pivot bearings before getting it sprayed! Will require a bit of work to get the old ones out then clean everything up before fitting new ones.

M boy – How much do you charge for facing/boring/reaming?

Might become a PITA…but also might work out cheaper…it’ll need to be a fair bit cheaper though to make it worth while.

Dirty customer apparently do it all, even remove and re fit the headset/BB
