Having just fitted 42 tooth ring on my XTR gearing, I’m loving the 42 ring option, don’t mind the middle bit, but it’s a bit peddly in top gear (30t chainring)
Now here’s the potential silly question: is it possible to get/fit a 10t cog to the cassette, giving it same top/bottom gears as my XX1, which I am very happy with.

No, your freehub body OD is too big for a 10t cog. Thats why sram have a different freehub design.
