My bike insurance insists on the bike being locked using a sold secure gold standard lock. I have an ABUS Granit Xplus 54 D-lock but that’s a right old lump to lug around in my backpack for the odd occasion that I may need it. Is there anything that meets the standard that is a little more ‘portable’ i.e. lighter weight and/or less cumbersome ?

Sadly Sold Secure is still easy to defeat with some relatively cheap tools, but that’s what the insurance companies demand. Bikes still get nicked, police rarely catch the scum, and insurance goes up.

Myself, if the bike is worth something, it never leaves my presence when outdoors so doesn’t need a huge lock to be carried.
