Going to run my pompetamine SS, what chainset are people using? A proper singlespeed or a road or an mtb one?

I tried an XT triple with a road BB but the axle looks too long, would it work with an mtb bb. Would the chain line be okay?

Also, what’s a good ratio for generality messing about a bit on and off road, I appreciate there will be some compromise.

The Pompetamine takes a 135mm rear hub, same as most mountain bikes, so you’ll want a chainline to fit that. 50mm I think should do it, which you’ll achieve with the middle position on a triple chainset. If you’re using a cassette hub with single cog there’s plenty of scope to vary the chainline. Just beware of using a huge chainring with a small chainline which might foul the frame.

I run 39:16 on my Pompino for what you describe. And given the choice I’d buy a nice Sugino 5-bolt crankset with 130mm bcd.
