the goal is to get some xt cranks from scruffy and annodised to highly polished.

i would like to avoid the elbow grease and wirewool method, is there something i can fit into a drill to do it?

or a non expensive power tool?

To get the anodising off use oven cleaner. Mr Muscle spray is good. Leave it on for about 40 minutes and then wash it off. If it's hard anodising it may take a couple of goes as trying to rub it off will take ages. once it's all gone then polish to youir hearts content till they are massively shiny and you'll need some of these 8)

The cranks on this were black anodised

Look up "metal polishing" on screwfix, you can fit a small polishing wheel to a drill no problem. You'll need something to hold the crank securely- like a vice.

Your profile says you're in Northampton. I'm based in Milton Keynes and you'd be welcome to come round and use my polishing stuff if you want

Drop me an email if you're interested

I found cockspaff was quite good at removing any kind of finish.
