    So how does the Polar altimeter work then?
    Did a route last week with 1.500m climbing and the same route today and it had shrunk to only 1.375m of climbing!!!

    I think you can calibrate the altimeter in two ways. This may explain the two readings.

    Barometric pressure, stay in the place for an hour and it can change by a couple of hundred feet!
